Caseworker/Legal Secretary

The Houghton County Friend of the Court Office is accepting applications for a full-time position. This position is an entry level T-06 union position. A job description is below.

97th District Court - Full-time Probation Officer


The 97th District Court is accepting applications for a full-time Probation Officer in Houghton County. A bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, Human Services, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Knowledge of issues relating to substance abuse and addiction is preferred. Applicants must possess good computer skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. The ability to work both independently and as an effective team member is imperative.

Applicants may apply in person Monday through Friday between 8:00am to 4:00pm at the 97th District Court Magistrate's Office, 4th Floor of the Houghton County Courthouse, 401 E Houghton Ave, Houghton, MI 49931, or by mail. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!

Full-Time Plumbing / Mechanical Inspector

Houghton County will be accepting applications for a full-time Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to become registered with the State of Michigan, as required by Act 54 of 1986.

Qualifications include:

Mechanical Inspector Rule 43.
An applicant for registration as a provisional mechanical inspector shall have possessed a mechanical license for not less than 1 year in 3 or more categories 1, 2, 4, or 9 as defined in 1984 PA 192, MCL 338.971 to MCL 338.988 (the Forbes Mechanical Contractor's Act).

Plumbing Inspector Rule 46.
An applicant for registration as a provisional plumbing inspector shall have possessed a journey license for not less than 2 years or shall be licensed as a master plumber under the provisions of the State Plumbing Act, 2002 PA 733, MCL 338.3511 to 338.3569.
