Houghton County Land Bank Authority Board Openings

The Houghton County Land Bank authority is looking for board members to fill two expiring positions. Each applicant should be a resident of Houghton County.

If you are interested in becoming a board member, please complete an application and return it to the Controller's Office, Houghton County Courthouse, 401 E Houghton Avenue, Houghton, MI 49931 no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 7, 2018.

The Houghton County Land Bank Authority was formed to acquire property through the tax foreclosure process. The property can then be used for neighborhood revitalization, home ownership and affordable housing, the return of property to productive tax paying status, land assemblage for economic development, and long term "banking" of properties for future strategic uses.

Full-Time Plumbing / Mechanical Inspector

Houghton County will be accepting applications for a full-time Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector. Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to become registered with the State of Michigan, as required by Act 54 of 1986.

Qualifications include:

Mechanical Inspector Rule 43.
An applicant for registration as a provisional mechanical inspector shall have possessed a mechanical license for not less than 1 year in 3 or more categories 1, 2, 4, or 9 as defined in 1984 PA 192, MCL 338.971 to MCL 338.988 (the Forbes Mechanical Contractor's Act).

Plumbing Inspector Rule 46.
An applicant for registration as a provisional plumbing inspector shall have possessed a journey license for not less than 2 years or shall be licensed as a master plumber under the provisions of the State Plumbing Act, 2002 PA 733, MCL 338.3511 to 338.3569.
