Voter Registration Text Message Alert Caution
Election officials have received complaints from Michigan voters concerned about text messages they’ve received regarding their voter registration status. Voters should use caution before clicking links or providing personal information, and the BOE will refer any suspicious messages for investigation.
In election years, it is common for third-party groups to send voter registration forms directly to voters either by mail, email, or text message. These mail-in and online registration options have been available to Michigan voters by law for many years. When in doubt, voters can always CLICK HERE to check their voter registration status, register to vote, or update your their registration.
As we get closer to November, clerks should remind voters that that state and local election officials are the go-to source for voting information or questions about the process. Clerks should also encourage voters to CLICK HERE or contact their office
