Transfer Station Manager Position


The Houghton County Board of Commission is seeking candidates for the position of Houghton County Transfer Station Manager.

The SWT Station Manager reports to the County Administrator, and is responsible for all day-to-day operations for the facility, located in Atlantic Mine. The successful candidate will lead a team of employees that provide customer service for commercial, municipal, and personal solid waste customers. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and skills in the areas of financial management, mechanical systems, small and large equipment operation, operations management, customer service, office automation, multi-tasking in a fast-paced work environment and a willingness to lead by example. This ideal candidate would preferably have a bachelor’s degree or higher in business or operations management, but all qualified applicants will be considered regardless of background or education. Starting pay is negotiable, and is based upon the individual’s credentials and experience. A full benefit package is available including health, vision and dental insurance, along with a competitive retirement plan.

Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney--Houghton County


The responsibilities of a Chief Assistant Prosecutor include: the analysis of warrant requests; conducting pretrial conferences, bench trials and jury trials; and any other duties as assigned by the Prosecuting Attorney. Caseload may include matters in probate and family court, and both misdemeanor and felony cases.


Must be licensed by the State Bar of Michigan. Applicants that have sat for the July 2021 Bar Exam are eligible to apply, but employment is conditioned upon passing the Bar and Character and Fitness.
