DBA or "Co-partnership" forms are available in the County Clerk's Office and protect the name of a business in Houghton County for a period of five (5) years. Renewal notices are mailed to the business owner(s) approximately one (1) month prior to the expiration date.

You must be 18 years or older to file a DBA.

A DBA protects the name of your business in Houghton County only, it is not a license of any sort.

Fees for DBA Application -- Effective April 1, 2019

  • New DBA filing-$6 filing fee (MCL 445.1) + $10 Indexing Fee (MCL 445.3) = $16 (includes 2 certified copies).

  • DBA Renewal-$4 filing fee (MCL 445.1a) + $10 Indexing Fee (MCL 4445.3) = $14 (includes 2 certified copies).

  • Change of Address Certificate-$10 Indexing Fee (MCL 445.3) (includes 2 certified copies).

  • Discontinuance of Operation Certificate-$10 Indexing Fee (MCL 445.3) (includes 2 certified copies).

  • Irrevocable Consent (MCL 445.3(3))-$2 (no Indexing Fee).

  • Certified copies (MCL 445.3(1))-$1 at time of filing (for more than the 2 included with the Indexing fee).

  • Certified copies (MCL 445.2c)-$2 if not at the time of filing.
